PRESENTED BY TOYOTA FINANCIAL SERVICES

WHAT'S HAPPENING? #AEWW

The Los Angeles LGBT Center announced that international music superstars No Doubt and Sia will both perform intimate acoustic sets and Emmy® Award-winning actress and comedian Sarah Silverman will perform a stand-up routine at the annual An Evening with Women celebration on Saturday, May 16 at the Hollywood Palladium. The event, co-chaired this year by Linda Perry, Brent Bolthouse, Kelly Lynch and Annie Goto, has raised over $4.65 million dollars since 2002 for the vital services the Los Angeles LGBT Center provides to underserved seniors, women and girls, including the homeless youth currently surviving on the streets of Los Angeles.

The members of No Doubt jointly stated, “We are so honored to be joining the lineup for this year’s An Evening with Women.  We applaud the tremendous work Los Angeles LGBT Center has done over the years in striving to create a community where all people are equal and treated with fairness and dignity.  This is going to be a really cool show for us….different than the big plugged-in shows we’ve done over the years, it’ll be exciting to switch it up and play a select handful of songs and bring a scaled down, acoustic vibe to them.”

NO DOUBT, SIA AND SARAH SILVERMAN TO PERFORM AT AN EVENING WITH WOMEN

An Evening with Women is presented by Toyota Financial Services and generously sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank, American Airlines, Anita May Rosenstein Foundation, Artists for Trauma, UBS, KPL Select, Ralphs/Food 4 Less and US Bank.

EXHIBITOR HIGHLIGHT

Didier Ltd., London

Since 2006, Didier Ltd. has specialized in jewels designed by leading modern masters, painters, and sculptors who are recognized internationally for their art, in addition to working in jewels, which often comes as a surprise. Currently the gallery has over 300 jewels by over 150 different artists that date primarily from the 1940s to 1980s. With this historical perspective, the gallery is uniquely placed to acquire only the finest examples and does not deal in reissue or pieces produced by artists’ estates. After being neglected for forty years, this overlooked expression of the artists’ oeuvre is now regaining international recognition. In addition to the LA Modernism Show, Didier Ltd. has participated in the some of the most prestigious design fairs in the world, including Design Miami, TEFAF Maastricht, and New York’s Winter Antiques Show.

SPONSOR HIGHLIGHT

Returning premier LA Modernism Show sponsor 1stdibs is the world’s leading online marketplace for the most beautiful things on Earth. 1stdibs connects the world’s best dealers, finest shops, and most important galleries with sophisticated collectors, designers and curators.

Starting with a few dealers that were hand-selected by founder Michael Bruno at Paris’ legendary antiques market, Marche Aux Puces, in 2001, 1stdibs has become the global destination for those who must have ‘first dibs’ on treasures from around the world that would be otherwise inaccessible.

Los Angeles, CA

Open To The Public

On Saturday, November 1st, Morrison Hotel Gallery and Bookmarc presentECHO HOME, bringing the photography of indie icon JAMIE HINCE of THE KILLS to their galleries in Los Angeles. An opening reception, which is open to the public, will take place on November 1st at Bookmarc (8407 Melrose Place, Los Angeles), from 4-6pm. The images will be on display to the public and available for purchase at Morrison Hotel Gallery, located inside the Sunset Marquis Hotel (1200 Alta Loma Road, West Hollywood), on Saturday, November 1st from 10 am to 7 pm and will be up through November 11th.

Proceeds from this event benefit Rational Animal - a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness to help at-risk animals. One of their signature community service projects, Mother's Comfort Project, sews and delivers thousands of beds to animals in shelters.

Morrison Hotel Gallery and Bookmarc share a spirit of sophistication, swagger, and authenticity. Both brands have a flair for making trendsetting decisions. Jamie Hince is a likeminded soul with his distinct mix of iconography and intellect.  The English guitarist, singer, and songwriter is a genre-defining musician with a signature sensibility that encompasses grit, humor, and sultry expressiveness. As a musician, he's worked with cult acts such as Fiji, Scarfo, and Blyth Power, but he's best known for his mesmerizing and sensual indie rock with The Kills, which he co-founded with singer, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and fashion icon Alison Mosshart in 2000. To date, The Kills have released three critically acclaimed albums. Hince is one of the rare breeds of artistically fluid musicians that can authoritatively work in other mediums. Prior to the ECHO HOME exhibit, Jamie Hince will be in Los Angeles to play with The Kills Halloween night at the Forum with tour-mates Queens Of The Stone Age.

ABOUT

NYC artists Mint&Serf are pleased to present Support, Therapy and Instability, their new limited edition (Edition of 1000) 136 page monograph. Support, Therapy And Instability strips graffiti to the bare gristle of gesture and expression, while getting away far from polished graffiti murals and calculated street art. The series attempts to look at the narrative of expressions, rather than graffiti as a decorative aesthetic that often lacks visceral meaning. The book’s main focus are twenty three large canvases created by Mint&Serf, Jacuzzi Chris, Pablo Power and the Peter Pan Posse at The Broadway Chapter in New York City from December of 2011 through September of 2012. The book presentation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the after party will be from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
